Cover story styling and editorial design for the February 2015 issue of Austin Woman magazine.
I worked closely with the Creative Director to book, art direct and style the February 2015 cover story photoshoot. I was also the sole designer for the the 6 page editorial feature spread.
"In life, you have to take risks to achieve rewards", says Natalie Madeira Cofield. It’s a mantra that she has lived by, and the rewards she has attained are proof.
I took design queues from cover woman Natalie Madeira Cofield, the first female president and CEO of the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce. Her strong and vibrant personality shows through in the story's photographs, even against the grey skies we encountered on the day of the shoot. To me, this editorial design is all about contrast and duality. I used contrasting soft and bold colors, strong yet rounded fonts with elements extending beyond the rectangular outlined shapes - this seemed like a natural choice given Natalie's "think outside the box" mentality when it comes to her career.
